This is a HEAVY topic. If you are trans, I don't recommend viewing it unless you are in a good place mentally. Putting this together was pretty emotionally taxing for me---but it was also cathartic. This project is meant for two separate audiences: people who do not understand the scale of violence against trans people, and trans people who wish to mourn.

For trans people, especially those who feel vulnerable or scared, I recommend leaving descriptions off---this is the default setting.

For cis people wishing to better understand the scale of violence, I ask you to, if you feel you are in a good place, turn on the descriptions. They are short---only a couple words each---but I think they significantly add to the impact. They do not let you imagine killing in sterile, removed terms. They force you to acknowledge what actually occurred.

November 20th is the Transgender Day of Remembrance---a day on which we remember and mourn the lives of trans people who have been killed or who have died by suicide in the past year.

TDoRinfo releases annual reports on these deaths which span from October 1st to September 30th the next year. This project contains the names of those who died between October 1st, 2022, and September 30th, 2023.

In total, 393 people died in the timespan covered by this most recent report. Most of them were murdered. While 393 may seem, initially, like a small number---we are used to hearing about numbers of people in the thousands, millions, billions---it is, when it comes down to it, unfathomably large. To truly get a feeling for what it means for 393 entire people to no longer exist, I ask you to light a candle for each of them.

To do so will take over an hour.
